The fragile rim of a vase breaks off.

A misfired glaze clumps stubbornly to a highly anticipated batch of mugs. This process is complicated and spontaneous and frustrating;

it’s imperfect by nature.

It took time for me to accept the unpredictability

of this craft as something worth admiration,

but it has taught me to recognize the same intricate

beauty that is formed with our imperfect lives.
